Despite its small size, the Kicks impressed us with its results in our cargo tests, matching and beating some larger rivals.Its powertrain leaves us wanting, especially when traveling at highway speeds, but as a city-focused commuter the Kicks is, um, a kick.Standard equipment is plentiful and includes driver-assistance features and popular infotainment tech such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.Nissan also provides plenty of opportunity for personalization via a bold color palette and many options and accessories.
One thing thats missing that may raise the eyebrows of SUV buyers is all-wheel drive, but this SUVs urban focus puts more emphasis on fuel efficiency than off-road capability. Nissan Kick Malaysia Update For 2021Whats New for 2021 Nissans smallest crossover receives a styling update for 2021 which includes a larger grille, streamlined headlamps and taillamps, redesigned front and rear bumpers, and a new 17-inch aluminum wheel design. Nissan has also expanded the availability of the contrasting black roof option to cars painted in Scarlet Ember Tintcoat, Boulder Gray Pearl, and Electric Blue Metallic. Inside, SV and SR models now come with a new 8.0-inch infotainment system, and all Kicks trims now feature Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. A Wi-Fi hotspot is now available as an option on the top spec SR trim. The center console has been redesigned, as have the dashboard air vents, the front-seat armrest, and the door-trim panels, which now feature silver-painted accents. Adaptive cruise control is now available as is an electronic parking brake with an auto brake-hold feature. Wed spring for the mid-range SV; it adds desirable items such as the new 8.0-inch infotainment display, adaptive cruise control, 17-inch wheels, and a center-console armrest. All Kicks models are front-wheel drive; all-wheel drive is not an option. Engine, Transmission, and Performance Every 2021 Kicks model is powered by a 122-hp four-cylinder engine that provides adequate but far from thrilling acceleration. A continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) handles shifting duties and drives the front wheels; all-wheel drive is not offered. If the leisurely 9.7-second jog from zero to 60 mph makes the Kicks seem slow, thats because it is. ![]() Around town it feels plenty perky so long as youre willing to rev the engine. The Kicks is nimble and more fun to throw around than some larger SUVs, but its not exactly a thrill ride on a twisty road. The suspension is tuned more for comfort, and it provided a well-cushioned ride even over the pitted and crumbling roads around our offices in Ann Arbor. The steering is direct and accurate, but theres very little feedback that comes up from the road to the drivers hands. Despite its stellar result in our test, the tiny 10.8-gallon fuel tank abbreviates its cruising range. Interior, Comfort, and Cargo Interior styling is less trendy than the exterior design of the Kicks, but it is well-built, looks grown-up, and has a user-friendly interior. An adult-sized rear seat means it can haul people and cargo without the cramped feeling one might experience in rivals such as the C-HR. Splashes of color throughout the cabin do a nice job of breaking up the monotony of what would otherwise be an all-black interior.
